i should be writing this essay but i’m LOVING how roman historians are like “yeah hannibal swore to his father that he would always hate Rome and that’s why the second punic war happened. he was nine” because the idea of a little nine year old kid vowing to destroy rome or whatever. he’s fuckin nine. that’s too young to do anything seriously and not be adorable.
