i think i finally put something together about harry potter fans and why they act the way they do: it’s because they completely internalized At Face Value all the “reading makes you smart” stuff they got fed by their teachers and parents as children…like that’s why they act like they’re intellectuals for basing their entire personality on a media franchise with (at best) the same thematic maturity and artistic value as like Steven’s Universe

like they got told “tv rots your brain!” too many times as kids and now they think reading makes you a genius regardless of whether it’s dostoyevsky or Generic YA Series No. 452

elementary school mindset. also i apparently insulted steven universe by comparing it to harry potter so like we’ve actually reached the point of kids potentually being better off watching cartoons than reading harry potter
