i love Tumblr Mythology and its spread. someone on Reddit just tried to assert that the oldest definitive version of the myth of Medusa is Ovid.
i love how not a single word of this is correct
also bonus content
while talking about the divine comedy
[image description: two screenshots from reddit. the first is text that reads, “pretty sure this is rampant speculation and the oldest definitive version we have is Ovid. Yeah Ovid was a sexist bastard but so was Ancient Greece.” the second is a comment by Yeet_that_bottle that reads, “Ohh sorry i thought they were the same guy. Did virgil do anything important while he was still alive?” the comment has two upvotes. end image description.]
[image description: guy looking at butterfly meme. the guy is holding up his hand towards the butterfly with the text, “Is this Greece?” the butterfly is labeled “Rome.” end image description.]
I feel like whoever wrote these questions was speaking from experience
Radiation Safety has geiger counters and can probably figure it out themselves
Loving whover over in Radiation Safety wrote this test. They’re absolutely done with every single scientist in the damn lab and they are not hesitating to show it.
The House of the Ceii is one of the oldest in Pompeii. It dates from the Samnite era (2nd century BC) and the owner seems to have been a magistrate named Lucius Ceius Secundus (his name appears on the outside of it). The domus is adorned with precious ones. mural paintings with scenes of animals in fight. Hunters and prey are shown in their natural habitat; landscapes in which African hunters appear with Egyptian-style buildings, preparing to hunt hippopotamuses and crocodiles on the banks of the Nile. They were in very poor condition and have been restored by means of a complex laser system, thus recovering their original splendor.
Currently the domus can be visited, but it is advisable to first see what days it is open to the public.
