so for my current job they’re paying for the hotel during the project. We’re not working next week, because of Thanksgiving, but up until now the implication was that they were going to continue to pay for the hotel until the project was done, and checking out is optional.

Well, just got an email today that I now need to pay for the entire week out of pocket. Which is $600+. This would have been nice to know back when plane tickets were actually fucking affordable.

Emailed them about how my plans were made with the understanding that I would not have to pay, and now I don’t have enough fucking money in my bank account for the hotel or a round trip.

So anyway, I’m fucking quitting unless the response is “So sorry, we are paying.” I don’t give a single solitary fuck about this project anymore. I do not care about how short staffed they are because they only hired ten fucking field techs for a survey that spans thousands of fucking acres. I hope this company goes bankrupt.

They also texted us all yesterday afternoon about how we needed to be ready to work today because we’re going out in the forest!

It’s hunting season. Hunting season literally just started. It’s this entire week. The area we’re surveying encourages hunting. I’m not getting mistaken for a deer and fucking shot in the goddamned Midwest.

So I had to fucking pull up the official government websites saying that it was firearms season and they were like “Oopsie! Didn’t realize!”

And then we found out that it was in our contract anyway that we’re not surveying this week. So they’re just stupid and didn’t think to keep track of the dates where we would be in actual fucking danger if we went out.

my mom keeps pressuring me to enroll in accounting again and keeps insisting she’ll help pay for it and i guess it’s from a good place but like….i did a year of that. i cant do it. i cant spend my life doing that. the entry level courses made me want to kill myself.

the only reason i didnt enroll in an archaeology major in 2012 when i graduated high school was she kept telling me to enroll in nursing or i’ll be homeless and listening to her instead of doing what i wanted was probably the biggest mistake of my life.

basically i was planning to try and get into chapel hill because they have an actual archaeology department and major but for an out of state resident it’s about 50k a year.

BUT if i was a north carolina resident, it would go down to 24k a year, and only about 15k a year if i didnt dorm.

but i would have to have proof of residency which means living there and working for a full year. luckily, there’s an AC moore close by and since ive already worked 2 years for that company i hope that means something and i can get a job there. so if i was working part time at minimum wage i would be making approx. 600 dollars a month.

now, this would be a Big Problem because i expected apartments there to be like 1,200 dollars a month? (since i know it’s cheaper there than here where the lowest for a studio apartment i can get is 1,700)

and while i DO have relatives there, i dont really want to move in with my really homophobic aunt (though my uncle said i could stay with them for a while if i needed too.) and my other aunt and uncle who live nearby also said i could live with them (i had debated going to college down south a long time ago and my aunt bonnie was really excited about it and offered to let me stay with them and their twelve cats) but they just got divorced and personally i prefer my aunt but we’re not actually related and im 99% sure going “hey, remember me? your ex husbands niece? im about to take you up on that offer!)

but THEN i found out i can get like really fucking cheap apartments? like around 600 a month????? ?i m over the fucking moon

fun fact: my mom used to lock me in my room with the lights out when i was bad even though i was terrified of the dark and thought there were monsters and she’d lock me in there for hours until i’d stop screaming and crying and promised to be good and i still have a crippling fear of dark enclosed places to this day

i get overly attached to fictional moms b/c they seem to be everything my mother is not  and i kind of use them as an imaginary substitute for people who actually exist and care about me
