no ~professional comedy~ will ever be as funny as that scene in killing eve where villanelle’s like “what’s your phone password?” and eve’s like “1…2….3…………4” w one single tear rolling down her cheek
Dirk strider is so dumb. Honestly there is nothing sexy or interesting about him. He wears triangle anime shades. He has a fucking hat on his shirt. He thinks knowing rudimentary philosophy makes him some kind of intellectual badass who is better than everyone else. He wears baggy pants and horse jockey wear. He probably isnt even short enough to be a horse jockey. He has a puppet fetish and a horse fetish and HIS HAIR STICKS UP LIKE AN ANIME CHARACTER. HE IS SO UNSEXY. HE IS SO DUMB. I HATE HIM. I hate dirk strider. I loathe him. I despise him. I hate him so much. His orange eyes that looks like… like fire. Hell fire. This fire in my skin. This burning desire is turning me to sin. But its not my fault! Im not to blame. Its not my fault. Why did god make the devil so much stronger than a man? Protect me maria. Dont let the siren cast his spell. Dont let his fire sear my flesh and bones. DESTROY DIRK STRIDER and let him taste the FIRES OF HELL!! Or else let him be mine and mine alone…. I will burn down all of paris if i have to.
In the midst of this discussion on the current “no spoilers” climate, I keep remembering what happened when the Gravity Falls fandom predicted the existence and importance of Ford’s character. You know what Alex Hirsch and the show’s creative team did? They bumped Ford’s introduction up by a few episodes (mid-S2 as opposed to the planned season finale), but what they didn’t do was trash his entire character and thereby waste 30 episodes of buildup.
And when Ford walked on screen for the first time and revealed who he was, I remember the fandom losing our minds. Because we had picked up on the foreshadowing! All our theories had been proven right! And now we were getting the catharsis of payoff. Anyone who was there can testify that Alex Hirsch did troll us with fake spoilers, but he wasn’t upset whenever we put together the clues he was leaving for us. In fact, he actively encouraged it! And that’s what I don’t get about writers like the Russos and D&D - if you’re going to punish your fans for interacting with your work, why are you in the business of creating?
