look i dont even like one direction. i dont listen to them. i know virtually nothing about them other than their name and the song “steal my girl” and yet some-fucking-how every goddamned time i see the name “larry”  i forget that it’s an actual name and go “oh, people are talking about louis/harry.” 

also since it’s noon on a monday im gonna try and do the hidden garden jumping puzzle 

this might be the first presidential debate i actually watch and i am fully prepared to be horrified

i’m also still so mad that malyck is never mentioned again after the level 20 personal story for sylvari because??? his existence is a huge fucking deal?? the fact that other purified blighting trees exist ??? was never fucking addressed in heart of thorns??? 

at work someone went into the sticker aisle and systematically went through 500+ stickers and turned them backwards for no fucking reason

anyway i’ve got two theories about them

one is that they’re somehow related to the bloodstone explosion b/c it was previously stated in canon that souls who die on the bloodstone were bound to it. however, b/c of such a massive fucking explosion the energy spread throughout tyria, and the ley ghosts are all the people who died in the initial explosion

the second is that they’re related to the dragons’ deaths. the dragons  wake up when there’s a high concentration of magic, consume it (and then destroy the world), and then go dormant and gradually release the magic they consumed over decades and decades.  then the cycle repeats. and yeah tons of people die, but it keeps the balance.

canonically, magic is part of the ecosystem of the world. it’s an essential part of the world. snaff wrote that magic also holds together reality. 

but when we killed zhaitan all that energy was released immediately. and then we did it again. and all that magic, maybe, has nowhere to go. all that magic is going back into the ley lines and my theory is that it is  really fucking up the equilibrium of the world (which is where glint’s egg would come in: a dragon that would consume magic and, hopefully, not try to slaughter everyone.) without the dragons to keep it down to normal and possibly safe levels it’s manifesting in new ways. and wow this was longer than i was going to write lol
