not 2 get too depressing but it’s a really jarring shift to go from unsupportive family that you’ve known all your life to professors that actually, like, care if you’re happy and succeed even though you’ve only known them for a couple of months

#m #text #like i went into an archaeology major going 'look i KNOW this is gonna be hard and stuff but i AM going to do it' #and my parents are like lol just go into accounting or we're not gonna help you financially #and then i went into college and professors are like hey this is hard but you ARE gonna make it i BELIEVE in you #like what why #thanks? #why are you emailing me saying you're proud of how my grades have improved also i'll die for you #i was like yeah i'd love to go to field school abroad but idk if i can afford it #and my advisor and professors were like #no you WILL enjoy it because we're going to help u get scholarships so you can spend a month in Tuscany
