So one of my patients just came into session today really upset and complained for about half an hour about what Disney did to Ben Solo and how he and his mom was looking forward to Rey and Ben having Jedi babies.

So yes. To confirm, this movie is negatively affecting the mental health of children and teens. And apparently entire families.

Rant ahead: I have light symptoms of depression 6 days after I saw this film tbh. It got better with time tho, but I didn’t sleep well in 6 days and every morning I wake up with a start, realizing that I was made to watch this disgusting, offensive POS by a bunch of psychopaths AND to pay for it. I sobbed the day after the premiere. I cried a couple of times after. I cycle between anger and resentment and resignation. This is no joke. I only now understand the extent to which DLF scapegoated poor Rian Johnson who is nothing short of a saint. And I now fully realize that I live in a world in which, if you scream loud enough and you bully others loud enough, even if it’s racist, eugenic, and misogynist slurs, you’re gonna get your way. F*cking Nazis came to power in 1933. using THE EXACT SAME PRINCIPLE. The TROS case isn’t just a film. It’s a f*cking symptom of an illness. And somehow, I should be the one who should feel embarrassed and hide my feeling because, according to Disney’s most prominent bootlicker John Boyega, I’m mentally weak? F*ck this sh*t.

Reblogging for @niteowlsabinewren because this is EXACTLY how I feel. This total lack of compassion or empathy for Ben Solo and the adolescent struggle he represents is a symptom of a moral rot in our culture, and it scares the crap out of me. The diminishing of Rey into an innocent girl who relies on men for her power and is deprived of the deepest desire of her heart shows that misogyny runs so much deeper than I realized. The fact that many people are celebrating this ending shows that our society will not care for the lost and lonely. I don’t think that’s an exaggeration. It makes me terrified for the world my children will inherit, ON TOP OF the political and other world events of recent years. This movie has revealed the dystopia we live in and offered no hope for the future. Tragic doesn’t begin to describe it.

tfw disney turns the world into a hell-ridden dystopia overnight by greenlighting a shitty movie
