when i was in rome last i went to the forum and someone wondered aloud “what do you think that inscription says?” and i was like oh, it says this emperor made this. see, that letter is just an abbreviation for this name :) and she went “wow you can read those? you must be really smart” and i’ve been riding that high for literal years
