…Just as a heads up, there’s a lot of great historical resources & reference material in the thread, but also a LOT of insistence that anyone who dislikes use of the word “queer” and/or perceives it as a slur is a TERF or a pawn of TERF politics— when, yk, despite the origins of the term’s use for the LGBT+ community, “queer” does still very much have a contentious history that it’s worth not screaming people down for the audacity to have trauma with it.
Least of all people you don’t know who you’d be accusing of being a transphobe by proxy with that kind of rhetoric, regardless of how you feel about “queer” as a word personally.
