most pictures of paleolithic cave art you see are recreations. ostensibly because they’re so old that even the act of taking pictures can damage them.
however, i’m pretty sure the real reason is because the older art is the stronger emotions it evokes, so if any human being looked on the actual images they would be unable to process it and explode.
