my aunt is jewish but the rest of my family is catholic so when her and my uncle got married it was like a mesh of jewish an catholic wedding stuff. anyway, at one point my uncle stepped on a glass to break it (as is tradition) and i was super confused and asked my dad about it and he said “oh, it’s for aunt jen. she wanted him to do it.”

an i thought that it was my aunt who came up with the whole idea. like she had this weird quirk where a glass had to be broken with absolutely no explanation. it wasnt until like 3 years later that i realized it was a jewish thing.
