speaking of movies that i cried at you all need to see the mr rogers documentary “won’t you be my neighbor?” 

at one point françois clemmons says that he asked fred rogers if he meant it when he said “I like you just the way you are” even though clemmons was an openly gay man and mr rogers said yes, of course.

and i ended up tearing up b/c i loved watching mr rogers as a little kid and i guess now it’s easy to say “of course mr rogers wouldn’t be upset you were a lesbian! he accepted everyone!” but you’re told the same thing about how your parents will accept you no matter what and then you sit through holiday dinners with everyone laughing and saying being gay shouldn’t be allowed and gay marriage is morally wrong

and idk. it’s nice to know that mr rogers would still be proud of me.
