my mom wanted to send my brother to a conversion camp when he was like eight? seven? maybe younger, tbh. he wanted to go to ballet with me (mainly, he admitted, because he wanted to hang out with me and go out for food after. he really just wanted bagels twice a week for breakfast) 

and he told my mom and asked if he could have one of my tutus and my parents flipped the fuck out. the literally wanted to send him to a conversion camp. 

he was a literal child. he was in fucking elementary school. and my mom still fucking jokes about it. he grew up into a trump supporter and he’s laughing, right now, at hillary’s speech. my sister and i brought up pence’s stance on it and my mom went “hey, danny almost went there!” and they all crack up laughing at it. she fully admits she would have sent a young child to be psychologically tortured if he had, in fact, been gay. at the end of the day she admits she just didnt want to send him because of the costs. she just didnt want to fucking pay for it. too far away, and gas is expensive!

she said, and this is a quote “children should do what their parents say. and what works, works!” 

so yeah, mom, when you say “hey emily are you alright? you can tell my anything” i want to be like no, mom. i actually fucking cant. because you’re repeatedly stated if you had an openly gay child you would try to change them. no i’m not telling you jack shit
