so anyway why was jaqen h’ghar in the black cells? he’s a faceless man and i have so many questions

why let himself get captured? what was he imprisoned for? the faceless men are skilled at killing people and making it look like an accident or natural causes (which is demonstrated by jaqen himself) so why let himself be imprisoned? who was he hired to kill?
